【海外特派員からの投稿 カナダ在住 釜石市出身 Masumi.K】
9月17日、NYの【ジャパンソサエティー】で、渋沢栄一財団が主に
支援してくださり、NY日本領事館、日本財団、釜石市の協力により
釜石から3名の方々、及び復興を支援してくださっている
一橋大学橘川教授の4名の皆さんが、NYで講演会を行いました。
釜石の3名の方は、
岩崎 昭子（有限会社宝来館代表取締役）
小野 昭男（小野食品株式会社代表取締役社長）
佐々 隆裕（釜石市産業振興部次長）
当日は長旅のお疲れも見せず、スライドには写真を交え、津波の行った当時の様子、
停電した状態の避難所の様子や2週間前にオープンしたばかりの被災した新しい工場の様子、
様々な状況そして今後についてご説明なさっていました。
普段、日本に住んでいない私にとっては、海外に住み復興の御手伝いが出来ていないこと
の後ろめたさを感じつつ、震災後2度帰省したとはいえ、とても衝撃的であり
感慨深い講演でした。
会場には、日本人のみならず様々な支援をしてくださったアメリカ人などの姿も多く見られ、
会場には100名以上の方がいらしてくださいました。
震災後、被災地を周り、1000人の被災した方々の似顔絵を書いてくださった
Naoto Nakagawa氏。こちらでも、とても著名な画家です。
ありがたいことに釜石にも立ち寄って似顔絵を書いてくださったそうです。
偶然、小佐野中学のときの友人に会い、その後大槌出身の方や花巻出身の方を交え、
海外に住んでいるから見える別の目線での復興の可能性などについて語っていたのですが、
この競争の本当に激しいNY暮らしで、鋭い視点を持ちつつ、
故郷を思う暖かい気持ちのあふれている方々にお会いでき、感慨深い夜でした。

Three speakers were flown in from Kamaishi with another one professor
who is helping the recovery project at Kamaishi was invited as well to NYC.
On Sep 17th,The lecture was held at the Japan Society at NY.
It was funded by the Shibusawa Eiichi memorial foundation and supported
by the consulate General of Japan NY,
the Japan foundation center and the city of Kamaishi.
I assume it is quite hard for them to remind everybody about the
moment when the Tsunami hit. Three people who flew from Japan
were Mr. Ono, who owns food company;
Ms.Iwasaki, owner of the Ryokan; Mr.Sasa, who is Deputy Manager,
Industry Promotion Department, Kamaishi,
They showed us pictures of our town when the Tsunami engulfed our city,
and other pictures that were from the night after when there was
no light and electricity at evacuation place and the new factory
which was just opened two weeks before the Tsunami was attacked …
They also talked about the double mortgage situation,
and what is really happening now with their plan etc.
I went back to Kamaishi twice after the 311 and talked with many people,
however their speeches were quite impressive for me.
There are many questions from the attendees.
I even bumped into a friend who I had not seen for about 20 years.
We went out together with another guy from Ootsuchi and
the lady from Hanamaki.
We talked a lot about the opinions about what they should do.
As we are living outside of Japan,
we are always thinking about our town far away from Kamaishi.
